Remembered how much I hate British webbing today
(that's right I said it)... still high though.

Very true......................... ![]()

Was running high, particularly when the SMLE came together; not perfect and certainly needs finishing off but it is at least one piece and firing. Need to get it chrono'd but I suspect that the sidearm will be required...
However dropped slightly as the wirecutters I bought over 2 weeks ago still haven't arrived and the weather forecast isn't quite the med feel I was hoping for - almost looks like full BD weather rather than KD. Having said that my experience of Northern Italy in September is of quite a lot of rain and I think it was the same in 1944.

I have a pair of Brit wire cutters I will bring for you in case yours do not turn up.

Ah thanks Craig that would be fantastic. Excitometer rising again!
I'm trying to be hopeful that they'll turn up before Saturday but probably not. The feedback on the seller seems to imply that his delivery rate isn't going to win any awards.

Quick reminder to you Royal Engineers, don't forget to also bring a good working lighter. (doesn't need to be period) you will need them to light the TNT demo blocks!
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

A henious crime against airsofting re-enactment! I think we should give the Engineers damp soggy matches half of which wont work, that would be a lot more authentic

Don't worry about the wirecutters Charlie,I have 2 pairs to lend to the engineers .

Just heard that my wirecutters will be posted tomorrow so I guess I will be borrowing a pair. Already sorted the lighter out - one of those German trench lighters - spoils of war! Had the SMLE chrono'd and all OK there too but necessary To buy another pistol mag... Excitometer still heading up.

Going up just finished baking Hartkeks (original recipe Hard Biscuit for people to try) Going down slightly as the weather Friday evening looks V wet and i am Zelting ![]()

Yep, getting excited now. My 1951 british wool shirt turned up today, luckily quite worn and washed so it's not too itchy. Like everyone, watching the weather, looks like heavy rain Friday clearing up in the evening and light showers Saturday. If I get soaked on Saturday I might have to wear my german gear in the evening!!! Let's hope not.

Ponchos/Zelts for the win on Friday! Gordon, just chuck some Thompson's water seal on the Zelt tent - it works a treat.
I'm getting quite excited now - 5.6, I believe. Can't believe after so many months preparation, it's nearly here. ![]()

It has been a while in the brewing of this event, it doesn't seem that long ago that we were fretting that we were not going to have enough people to run it. You cant get in my spare room without tripping over kit, wifey has given up nagging me about it and looking forward to getting the place to herself for a couple of days. (untill it all comes back covered in mud
)

The dreadful week at work is nearly over, so excitometer at around 7.5 now.
Looking forward to Bovington tomorrow, shame about the weather but you can't have everything. Just a spot of last minute shopping, battery charging and packing now.
Cheers
